Client Care

Care guide.

TUTA pieces are built to age well. A few small habits help — this is everything you need, nothing more.

Stone

Travertine, marble, onyx.

Natural stone is porous. It wants a dry cloth, a coaster under a glass, and a neutral cleaner now and then. Small veining and colour variation are not flaws — they're why you chose stone.

  • Wipe spills straight away. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner every few months.
  • Vinegar, citrus, bleach, and abrasive pads — they etch the surface permanently.

Brass

Solid & brushed brass.

Living brass develops a warm patina — part of its appeal. If you prefer a brighter finish, polish it gently twice a year. Otherwise, a soft cloth is all you need.

  • Dust with a soft microfibre. Polish with a dedicated brass cream if you want to reset the shine.
  • Harsh chemicals, rough scourers, and leaving liquids sitting on the surface.

Wood

Oak, walnut, beech.

Solid wood breathes. Keep it away from radiators and direct summer sun, and feed it twice a year with a natural oil or wax — it'll look better at ten years old than at one.

  • Dust with a soft cloth along the grain. Apply natural oil or wax once or twice a year.
  • Silicone-based sprays, water left standing, and extreme humidity swings.

Ceramic

Stoneware & porcelain.

Most TUTA ceramics are dishwasher-safe, but we recommend hand-washing matte-glazed pieces so the finish stays even. For decorative vessels, a damp cloth is plenty.

  • Hand-wash in warm water with mild soap. Dry with a soft cloth.
  • Abrasive sponges on glazed pieces and sudden temperature changes.

Linen & wool

Throws, cushions, upholstery.

Natural fibres feel better with use. Air them, brush out pills with a garment brush, and dry-clean anything larger than a cushion cover — it's gentler on the weave.

  • Air outdoors monthly. Spot-clean with cold water and mild soap.
  • Tumble drying, harsh detergents, and direct sunlight for long periods.

Glass & crystal

Vases, hurricanes, tumblers.

Hand-wash hand-blown glass in warm water. For cut crystal, avoid the dishwasher — the detergent dulls the surface over time.

  • Hand-wash with mild soap, dry with a lint-free cloth.
  • Dishwashers, extreme temperatures, and metal scouring pads.

Leather

Throws, ottomans, poufs.

Leather wants a little conditioning once or twice a year. Warm sun softens the hide — keep it out of direct beams and it will age gracefully.

  • Wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Condition with a leather cream twice a year.
  • Water-soaking, direct heat, and saddle soap on finished leathers.

Rugs

Wool, cotton, natural fibres.

Vacuum gently — rotating brushes pull tufts. Rotate 180° every six months so the rug wears evenly. Spills should be blotted with a clean white cloth, never rubbed.

  • Vacuum weekly without a beater bar. Blot spills immediately.
  • Direct sunlight for long periods, steam cleaners, and harsh carpet shampoos.

Three principles that cover everything.

01

Dust lives in fabric more than hard surfaces. A soft brush or microfibre once a week is usually enough.

02

Heat and direct sun are the two things most likely to age a piece badly — keep both at arm's length.

03

When in doubt, do less. A damp cloth has rescued more furniture than any specialist product.
